Altinget's ambition is to convey political news impartially and openly and, at the same time, contribute with in-depth analyses and debates. The editors are not just interested in policy as such; they want the reader to know how policy affects them professionally and personally. Altinget intends to create a lively debate with politicians and other societal actors.
It divides news into 10 topical political niches, each focusing on a specific subject area, such as national policy, security, environment and energy, EU, civil society, infrastructure, and the labour market.
The platform's concept is based on the Danish media outlet Altinget.dk, founded in 2000, which today constitutes the largest political newsroom in Denmark. The Swedish version was established in 2014 and is the successor to the platform Riksdag & Departement.
