Built on a philosophy of quality over quantity, the outlet focuses on educating, raising awareness, and empowering readers through Auburn's stories, functioning as a conduit for community information and civic discourse. The outlet is primarily run by Miller, who handles the bulk of writing, editing, and management, supported by a core group of unpaid volunteers who contribute articles, research, photography, video, and social media content alongside their full-time jobs. In July 2023, the Auburn Examiner was taken over by South King Media, a family-run, independent, award-winning local news publishing company operated by Scott and Theresa Schaefer, who also run other hyperlocal news outlets in the South King County area of Washington State.
