Bolivia Verifica

https://boliviaverifica.bo/
Bolivia Verifica is a native digital media, independent and without ideological, economic or religious commitments. Its objective is to combat disinformation, qualify media information and improve democratic participation. The media began its operations in June 2019 after a training process provided to its journalists / fact - checkers. In addition to issuing reports on the verifications it carries out daily, it develops an extensive training and media literacy program aimed at journalists, university students, secondary school teachers and students. Within this framework, it has created a network of media outlets with which it works to spread information about disinformation and has trained its journalists to create verification units within their newsrooms. The El Polígrafo network was organized in 2022, is made up of five media outlets and is led by Bolivia Verifica. Innovation, in the opinion of Bolivia Verifica, is essential not only as a constituent part of the media but also in the fight against disinformation. Through innovation, it has made great strides in verifying political and hate speech. In this framework, it offers its followers and readers different types of journalistic products that reflect the current situation and the trends and objectives of disinformation. Each year, Bolivia Verifica organizes, together with the Desconfío project of Argentina and the Inter-American Press Society, the World Summit on Disinformation that brings together dozens of fact-checkers and hundreds of fact-checkers to discuss and analyze strategies to combat disinformation. The medium belongs to the Foundation for Journalism but is managed independently and with management autonomy by its journalists who are permanently trained by other verification agencies with whom information and methodologies are exchanged. The medium receives the support of various organizations, such as the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the European Journalism Centre, the European Union, the Swiss Cooperation in Bolivia and the Swedish Embassy.
