Cambridge News Inc. is a nonprofit news organization that publishes Cambridge Day and The Week, serving Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts. Established in November 2024 by a group of local residents, the organization was created to address gaps in coverage of local government, education, housing, and community issues. It operates as a 501(c)(3) and is overseen by a community-based board.
As part of its formation, Cambridge News Inc. acquired Cambridge Day and The Week, originally founded by Marc Levy. The organization aims to rebuild and expand these publications to provide consistent, fact-based reporting and to reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. It positions itself as a nonpartisan newsroom focused on helping residents make informed decisions and increasing accountability of local institutions.
The Cambridge Community Foundation supported the launch by establishing a Local News Fund to help finance operations. In September 2025, Michael F. Fitzgerald was appointed editor-in-chief to lead editorial development across multiple formats.
Cambridge News Inc. also maintains open channels for reader engagement, including letters, tips, and corrections, and encourages community participation in its reporting process.
