It was founded on March 4, 1999 by journalist Lucimar Couto. Campo Grande News was the first online newspaper in Mato Grosso do Sul and the first to be conceived exclusively for the Internet, back in the days of dial-up internet. Started as an uncertain experiment, the site gained an audience and consolidated online journalism in the state.

In the beginning, the content was presented in a list of headlines. Over the years, the format was perfected, and it gained images (photo and video), highlights and headlines. In addition to the work of professional journalists and columnists, the site's content relies on the collaboration of readers, who can send in pictures of what happened in the state, as well as comment on the news published.
