Daily Hive was created in South Vancouver in 2008 by Karm Sumal and Manny Bahia. It lists its principles as heart, hustle and humility. Previously known as Vancity Buzz, the media outlet worked to deliver relevant information about how to enjoy Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics, which was a launching point for its audience-driven platforms. By 2016, it had rebranded as Daily Hive and expanded into other Canadian markets. In 2022, Daily Hive was acquired by ZoomerMedia Ltd. Today, Daily Hive publishes three local websites for Vancouver, Toronto and Vancouver, respectively, and has a national landing page that gathers news and information from its sister sites. Daily Hive’s thematic channels include Urbanized (information about real estate, development, transportation, architecture, public art, opinions and politics); Food & Drink; Sports; Events; Lifestyle (information about the outdoors, health and fitness, beauty and fashion, shopping, pop culture, contests); Travel; and Business & Tech.
