The Hummel Report is a Rhode Island-based nonprofit investigative news organization founded in 2009 by veteran journalist Jim Hummel after his departure from traditional television and newspaper newsrooms. Hummel previously spent 13 years at the Providence Journal and another 13 years at ABC 6 News, where he became known for his investigative reporting segment “You Paid for It.” Created in response to changes in the traditional media landscape, The Hummel Report focuses on accountability journalism, government oversight, and investigative reporting aimed at exposing waste, corruption, and misuse of public resources in Rhode Island. The organization also produces “Rhode Island Spotlight,” a feature highlighting individuals and organizations making positive contributions to local communities.
