Khasokhas

Khasokhas is a Nepali-language news portal and community publication dedicated to serving the Nepali diaspora in the United States. Launched on January 15, 2012, and acquired by Namaste Media Inc. in 2018, Khasokhas provides daily online news through its website and a weekly print edition every Friday. The name “Khasokhas” means “verified truth,” reflecting the publication’s mission to deliver accurate, thoroughly researched journalism. Focused on socially and economically disadvantaged Nepali, Tibetan, and Bhutanese communities, Khasokhas primarily covers local issues in Queens, New York—home to a large Nepali population—while also reporting on national developments affecting Nepali-speaking communities across the U.S. Coverage spans news, politics, immigration, economy, and human-interest stories, with a strong emphasis on community achievements, cultural preservation, and public health. Khasokhas has been recognized among New York’s top four immigrant media outlets and listed as one of the top 50 “Digital First Responders” by the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlet created dedicated coronavirus portals, live events with doctors and lawyers, and multimedia content to inform and support its community. Through bilingual, accessible reporting, Khasokhas has become a trusted voice for Nepali-speaking audiences, bridging language barriers and empowering readers with critical information.
