La Voz Magazine

La Voz is the only print Spanish-language magazine serving the more than 170,000 Latinos across the Hudson Valley, including Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster counties. Founded in 2004 as a student project at Bard College by Emily Schmall and Mariel Fiori, La Voz has grown into a respected independent publication, supported largely by volunteers. Its mission is to provide the Hispanic community with tools and information to navigate education, health, business, and political systems, while promoting cultural awareness and community engagement. Distributed monthly with a circulation of 6,000 copies, La Voz reaches approximately 30,000 readers across eight counties. The magazine has received recognition from the New York Community Media Alliance and the Dutchess County Executive for its contribution to local journalism. Beyond print, La Voz extends its reach through Spanish-language radio programs, keeping the community informed on current events and important issues. With a commitment to media for the public good, La Voz empowers the Hudson Valley’s Hispanic population with culturally relevant, accessible news and information, making it a vital resource for both readers and the wider community.
