Manhattan Times

Manhattan Times is an award-winning bilingual newspaper dedicated to serving the diverse communities of northern Manhattan, including Hamilton Heights, East, Central, and West Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill. Founded in 1999 by Luis Miranda, Roberto Ramirez, and David Keisman, the paper provides in-depth coverage of local news, politics, culture, schools, and senior centers, filling gaps left by larger daily publications. Its editorial and photographic content reflects the interests and needs of the community, from education and arts to dining and civic issues. Beyond reporting, Manhattan Times actively contributes to community building. In 2003, it co-founded the Uptown Arts Stroll, now a month-long arts festival celebrating local talent in Washington Heights and Inwood each June. The newspaper maintains strong relationships with local civic organizations, elected officials, schools, and houses of worship, serving as a vital bridge across the neighborhood’s diverse language, ethnic, and religious communities. Print editions are distributed free on Wednesdays through local businesses, nonprofits, and residential buildings, while subscriptions are available for those who request them. Manhattan Times remains committed to empowering residents with reliable, locally-focused news while celebrating the vibrancy of northern Manhattan.
