NM Political Report is a publication of NM Reports, a not-for-profit news service founded in 2014 to provide daily coverage of New Mexico government, legislature, and politics. Its content is available free of charge to any credentialed news outlet for republication with attribution, making it a shared resource for newsrooms across the state rather than a direct-to-consumer publication. Individual readers can access its reporting through their local news outlets or by subscribing to receive content directly via email. NMPR was originally founded in 2014 by the nonprofit PNNMEF. In 2024, it joined the Citizen Media Group, a local nonprofit working to expand nonprofit news options in New Mexico, and is now published as a joint project of the Citizen Media Group and the newmexico.news group. The outlet also operates City Desk ABQ and shares content through a network of partner newsrooms, distributing twice-daily summaries to subscribing journalists and newsrooms.
