Project Optimist (formerly The Optimist) is a nonprofit, community-centered newsroom dedicated to solution-oriented journalism and creative storytelling in greater Minnesota. Guided by values of creativity, equity, transparency, and ethics, it seeks to engage residents in addressing local challenges, bridging divides, and fostering optimism about the future of their communities and region.

As a member of the Tiny News Collective accelerator program, Project Optimist benefits from fiscal sponsorship while maintaining editorial independence and adherence to the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics.
