Founded in 2003 by Scott “Starfire” Lunt and Barrett Chase, Perfect Duluth Day (PDD) is the Arrowhead region’s original culture website and Duluth’s most comprehensive source for community events and local storytelling. The platform was created as a blog for residents to share news, cultural insights, history, and events, blending professional journalism with contributions from hundreds of registered users. While some contributors are paid journalists, many are community members, creating a unique blend of grassroots and professional content that reflects the city’s character and diversity.
PDD features the PDD Calendar, the most complete daily guide for Duluth-area happenings, including concerts, plays, sports, and seminars. Its content reaches more than 25,000 unique visitors each month, reflecting strong engagement from residents and regional enthusiasts alike.
The platform became a limited liability company in 2009 and is now worker-owned, with partners Lawrence Lee, Cory Fechner, Brian Barber, and Paul Lundgren overseeing operations. Through a combination of community-driven content, magazine-style journalism, and crowdsourced storytelling, Perfect Duluth Day has cemented itself as a trusted, vibrant, and participatory resource that celebrates Duluth’s culture, community, and events.
