Planeta Venus Online is a Spanish-language media outlet based in Wichita, Kansas, serves a larger Latino audience around the state. It began as a weekly radio show on a station in Wichita, Kansas in 2014. It has now become a digital platform, with an internet radio station, a monthly Spanish-language print/digital newspaper, and a social media presence.
With its services, its team seeks to fulfill its mission of connecting communities through communication tools, providing multiple services to revitalize companies and individuals. It offers a free directory to make Latino businesses visible, and a calendar of community events.
Planeta Venus is a member of the Latino Local News Collaborative, a part of the Solutions Journalism Network Local Media Project. In this collaboration, they work with other independent media such as Philatinos Media, 2Puntos Platform, La Voz Latina Central and La Raza. They also work with media such as Factchequeado to debunk false narratives. Planeta Venus was a finalist for the 2023 LION Publishers Awards in the “New Business of the Year” category.
