Jornal Plural was established in Curitiba-PR by its founding partners with the goal of creating an independent media outlet, free from political or party funding, dedicated to high-quality local journalism. The initiative was supported through a crowdfunding campaign on the Catarse platform, one of the first of its kind.
With the funds raised, the three founding journalists, who had backgrounds in traditional newspapers both locally and nationally, began producing content specifically for Curitiba. From the beginning, Jornal Plural had a clear editorial line that continues to guide its work today.
The portal focuses on covering politics, cities, and culture, with daily content production. In addition to the permanent team, Jornal Plural benefits from contributions by numerous columnists who support the collaborative journalism model.
