Rabble began as a vision of journalists, writers, artists, activists and tech leaders across the country. They saw, first hand, the need for broader reporting on stories from civil society. In the early days, before big tech exploded on the media scene, they pioneered the place of technology in journalism – from their podcast network to their early explorations of the use of live video to, for example, stream activism live from the streets across the county. Over the years rabble has brought labour journalism back to Canada, introduced a parliamentary reporter to progressive, non profit media and provided training to generations of journalists through internships and fellowships. Rabble is community-driven media. It exist thanks to the support of thousands of individual donors, forward-thinking organizations, In Cahoots advertisers, and grants.
