RANGE is a worker-owned media organization founded in April 2020 by Luke Baumgarten as a personal project and podcast, and since grown into a small but expanding newsroom covering Spokane and the broader Inland Northwest from Central Washington to the Idaho Panhandle and into Western Montana when relevant. The outlet produces civic education content and people-centered investigative reporting aimed at empowering working people, expanding civic participation, and holding power accountable, with an emphatically anti-racist, class-focused editorial philosophy. RANGE is owned by the Spokane Workers Cooperative (SWC), making all RANGE employees worker-owners with democratic management of the outlet.
