The Brown Daily Herald

The Brown Daily Herald, Inc. is a financially independent, nonprofit student media organization based at Brown University. Serving as the daily newspaper of record for the Brown community since 1891, The Herald is one of the oldest college newspapers in the United States and operates as an independent student-run institution. The publication is produced by more than 250 students working across journalism, business, and web divisions. It publishes The Brown Daily Herald newspaper and post- magazine, covering campus news, arts and culture, sports, science, student organizations, and broader issues affecting the Brown University community. Although affiliated with the university community it serves, The Herald maintains editorial and financial independence. It is governed as a nonprofit organization incorporated in Rhode Island in 1975, with operational decisions made by student editorial and business boards, supported by alumni oversight through a board of directors.
