With an award-winning bi-weekly newspaper delivered every other Thursday and dedicated online coverage, the outlet is community-oriented and serves a population of about 4,000 in its area. The Goat focuses on local news and features and strives for excellence in its editorial content. Its focus areas include adventure and recreation, business, forestry, the environment, sports, arts and entertainment, opinion columns, and it also offers information services such as event listings, classifieds and obituaries. The outlet produces special publications throughout the year, including a local agricultural producers guide and a phonebook/business directory guide. The Rocky Mountain Goat has been recognized with awards by its industry peers at the provincial and national levels, including the BC and Yukon Community News Media Association, which recognized it for newspaper excellence in its category (2021).
