The Ukrainians is a digital magazine about successful Ukrainian people and initiatives launched after the Revolution of Dignity.
At first, it was a blog with interviews and photos. Later, the project grew into an online magazine. Today, The Ukrainians is an independent media outlet that publishes success stories of Ukrainians, news, and literary reports and produces podcasts, special projects, and educational initiatives.
It aims to show the good things about the country and how proactive Ukrainians are the main reason not to lose hope and optimism. The founders believe that quality and honest media outlets contribute to positive social change and improve Ukraine.
The publication has no investors or "friendly politicians" and has always been independent. It gets funding through the donations and subscriptions of its readers.
Following the Russian invasion in February 2022, the Ukrainians has launched a few special projects, including a podcast called Cultural Tribunal. It features well-known Ukrainian names of culture, art, and science and talks about world-class collections that the Russian Empire has been appropriating for centuries. It is the first major record of Russia's cultural thefts.
