The Wren

Founded in 2022, The Wren believes in community-driven and community-funded journalism because this model ensures its reporting reflects the diversity and needs of the people who live in Kamloops (Tk'emlúps), B.C. The outlet collaborates with residents who care about the future of the community and wants to deliver news that empowers, informs and uplifts. Its focus areas include community stories, with sections on in-depth reporting and analysis, as well as stories from Secwepemcúl’ecw, the name of Secwépemc Nation’s traditional territory, which encompasses 17 communities from the Rocky Mountains to the northern crest of the Fraser River to the Arrow Lakes in the south. The outlet has also partnered on a series of stories focused on resources and information for people seeking addiction treatment in Kamloops. All of its content is available free online, including a local events calendar and a weekly e-mail newsletter. The Wren is part of Discourse Community Publishing, a journalism network based in British Columbia.
