Tvoe Misto is an independent city media hub in Lviv, Ukraine. It covers the city’s rhythm and style, as well as the people who create and improve the city. Its mission is to promote sustainable community development and create opportunities to discuss issues relevant to Lviv citizens.
Its multimedia hub includes a city portal, a city discussion platform, an online television station, a public organization for developing quality journalism - Tvoe Misto Lviv - and a production studio.
The city portal, Tvoemisto.tv, publishes Lviv news, analyses, columns, special projects, online broadcasts of events, and advertising content relevant to the local audience.
The discussion platform is the main mechanism for debating issues in Lviv, and most importantly, for finding solutions that can be implemented. Since 2016, Tvoe Misto has held hundreds of public discussions with thousands of participants. All discussions are broadcast live, and many of the solutions proposed by participants have already been implemented or are in the process of being implemented.
The production studio provides online broadcasts on a commercial basis, including filming commercials, presentations or promotional films, and animations.
Tvoe Misto is supported by the citizens of Lviv, including entrepreneurs, scientists, activists, and journalists, who have come together under one public organization (the NGO Tvoe Misto Lviv) to support unbiased media. The NGO is funded through advertising, grants and financial support from the local community.
Since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the coverage of the multimedia hub has changed from local to national, and the audience, which before consisted only of local citizens, now includes IDPs, refugees or Lviv citizens who moved abroad during the war. At the same time, the newsroom faces the challenge of covering a country with a military curfew that reduces the opportunities to verify and fact-check information and propaganda.
Financially, things also have become challenging: 95% of advertising revenue stopped. However, Tvoe Misto is currently seeing a return to around 50-60% of the revenue it had before the invasion.
Looking to the future, the organization is planning a new spin-off outlet to cover the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, called Tvoe Misto Kyiv.
