Verdad con Tinta is a generalist and independent medium of in-depth journalism, according to its description on its website. It is an independent journalistic project that works in-depth journalism, with special emphasis on human rights and the environment. They seek to promote social change through attractive journalism that includes positive news. "We tell you what is happening in the world, so that you can change it," they indicate in their description. It was founded in 2015 in Tarija, a city in southern Bolivia. Its founders and current owners are Mercedes Bluske Moscoso, Master in Communication and New Technologies, and Jesús Vargas Villena, specialized in Multimedia Journalism, Journalism for Latin American Development, Verification Journalism and a professorship in editing. Initially, Verdad con Tinta was distributed digitally through its own channels and also as a Sunday supplement to the printed media El Periódico of Tarija, Bolivia. It was a content syndication agreement. Since the beginning of 2020, Verdad con Tinta became an independent digital medium. Currently, its sections are: Research, current affairs, culture, environment, entrepreneurs and startups, women's ink, traveling ink and solutions. The originality of its graphic line also stands out, both for illustrations and static content as well as for audiovisual pieces called "tintographies". Verdad con Tinta won four awards: first place in the cultural journalism category of the Eduardo Abaroa National Award dedicated to the Bolivian creative industries and convened by the Ministry of Cultures (2016); first place in the Cristian Mariscal Award from the Boquerón Foundation for investigative journalism (2016); and honorable mention of the Sin Censura Previa journalistic award organized by the Foundation for Journalism and the National Union of Institutions for Social Action Work, also known by UNITAS, (2019). He won first place in the digital category at the National Award for Journalism Specialized in Industry (2024). He recently published two research papers on public corruption in alliance with CONNECTAS in 2024: "Millions without bottom: the indigenous program that did not benefit the indigenous people." and "White Elephants in the Land of Gas" , where the diversion of public funds from direct taxes on hydrocarbons (IDH) is revealed. In 2023, she published the series "The colonization of extractivism in the indigenous communities of Bolivia", thanks to the support of the International Women's Media Foundation, where she exposes how extractive activities in different parts of the country are affecting indigenous communities. As a result of this work, pollution in rivers caused by mercury was placed on the public agenda. For their part, activists from Chaco also issued a public statement about deforestation and the consequent coal industry in that region. They have worked with the support of organizations such as CONNECTAS, IWMF, CAPIR, Google News Initiative, Internews, Mongabay, Red Ambiental de Información (RAI), Fundación para el Periodismo, among others.Verdad con Tinta has diversified its sources of income. These come from funding for special research, foundation grants, and content creation for clients. In 2024 Verdad con Tinta obtained its legal status and formalized its journalistic team, being an important step for a digital native medium.
